A weekend for the wanderluster

By Arnia Kiara Oosthuizen

“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost.”

J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

We went for a weekend of camping at one of my favorite places, Mountain Sanctuary Park.

Clouds reflecting on the sliding pools

Beautiful dead tree at the sliding pools

My mom and I said that the camping is not the thing you remember, but the beautiful and many hiking routes, as well as the scenery. I truly enjoyed the weekend.

The wanderluster didn't even have to go far, to feel the satisfaction of going places and being awed by the majestic world we live in.

“because he had no place he could stay in without getting tired of it and because there was nowhere to go but everywhere, keep rolling under the stars...”

The power of rain and nature.

By Arnia Kiara Oosthuizen

It's easy to forget how powerful Mother Nature can be, but today she reminded me that she is the most powerful.

We went for a walk and a bit of a hike, at the botanical gardens, near our house. There is a beautiful waterfall and mountains/hills. We hiked up the hill to see the eagles' nest and to enjoy the view.
The clouds broke and it was mad rain. I took photos of the waterfall before and after:

The stream before the rains

The waterfall before the rain
And then the clouds opened in full mighty. We were very lucky to be safe in the restaurant, when the storm transpired. After the rain has stopped we went back to the waterfall, because we heard it roaring from afar. This is what we found:

The stream from before- now full of mud and the water much higher!

The waterfall coming down like crazy and full of mud

I have never seen anything like this before, but man, I really am glad I saw it. So beautiful and majestic!

It's raining, it's pouring...

By Arnia Kiara Oosthuizen

People don't know what they want. They complain about the weather being too hot, or because it's raining. Decide what you actually want.

Rocking the wet dog look
I enjoy every season for all it is. It is raining season here in South-Africa. My parents have been having trouble on the roads, because of all these storms. We are just having a lot of rain here at the university.

I recommend that every person here at university should get their own pair of gumboots, because these stuff are amazing. Everyone is dodging the puddles, while I'm walking straight through them! It makes life fun, so buy some nice gumboots.

I was soaking wet the whole day, but it was worth the fun! Enjoy the rain and STOP COMPLAINING!!!
