2015 will also consist of great friends and food, in no particular order! They will be part of the adventure of 2015!

On the RAG farm, soaking wet with great friends!

The food of 2015!

I also have a bucket list to complete this year that will be part of the adventure. Check it out here.

This will be my year! Let the games begin and may the odds be ever in my favor. How will 2015 be for you??

How to be an employee from hell

By Arnia Kiara Oosthuizen

Holiday jobs always have their ups and downs. This job was the best holiday job that I had, by far! But I had to train the new girl who is going to replace me and she is THE EMPLOYEE FROM HELL!

So this is how to be the employee from hell:

  • Go for the job interview in tracksuit and slipper shoes.
  • Be smarter than everyone in the office that has been working there for years.

  • When the boss asks for coffee, say NO because you are busy with the work that he gave you.
  • When your colleagues offer you lunch, say you are fasting for no apparent reason
  • Smell like sweat.

  • Smell like cigarettes.
  • Climb on the hip of the person training you, who accidentally hates the smell of cigarettes.

  • Wear jeans and slipper shoes the whole week, even though Friday is the only day that jeans are allowed.

  • Say that you get the filing system and no help is needed anymore, stuff it up, just so you can get the person, who is training you, in trouble.

  • Say no to colleagues when they ask you to watch out for their fax, because you are busy with the machine.
"Like yeah, I'll quickly call the people who is sending the fax and tell them to hold it, so that Your Royal Highness can finish your job."

  • Smoke a packet of cigarettes per day, but tell everyone how poor you are.
  • Tell your colleagues that you and your sister have a good relationship and you sort out your problems by hitting one another.
  • If a colleague asks you to do something, ALWAYS have a reply ready to reject their request.

  • Do not. I repeat: DO NOT GREET ANYONE IN THE OFFICE.

  • Tell people you are going to the loo. Come back smelling like smoke and glasses that went shady because you were outside. (Didn't know she found a longdrop?)
"You know there is toilets on the inside of the building, right?'
'Yeah, but I prefer the longdrop that makes me smell like smoke."

This pretty much explains my experience when the training the new girl at the company. I won't be there to save her butt if she messes up anymore, so good luck in keeping that job! I'm sure people are thrilled with you being a:

Do you even know what feminism means?

By Arnia Kiara Oosthuizen

I got quite upset, when I had a conversation the other day with a woman. The conversation was about how she preferred female doctors, dentists, etc. An then into the mix she threw in the phrase:
"But I am not a feminist."

I then asked her what she means by that. She said that she meant that she doesn't hate men. I then had to educate her that feminism is not man-hating. It is simply about women seeking equal rights to men.

Here is the definition: Feminism (Concise Oxford English Dictionary, 2011: 522): "The advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of sexual equality".
Usually, when people say they are feminists, it gets linked to man-hating. But quite frankly, I like men a lot. A LOT! If this doesn't make sense, here is a picture:

This is what feminists are fighting for

I am a feminist, because:

  • I believe I should earn the same money as a man doing the same work as me.

NOT THIS!
THIS!
  • I believe that children can be raised to be literally ANYTHING they want to be, even if my son wants to be a ballerina.
  • I believe there are no gender roles, for example, women belong in the kitchen. (BULL!)
  • I can do anything a man can.
  • I believe it is fine if a boy wants to cry and it is fine if he is in touch with emotions.
  • I believe a girl can play with cars and become a mechanic if she wants to.
  • I believe in gender equality, in each and every aspect.

I only recently discovered that there is a word for how I felt, when ladies complained that men don't open doors for them, but they won't do it for the men. It infuriated me. If you are not willing to open doors for men, why should they open it for you? I even open doors for girls, it's called common decency.
It infuriates me when women, who are promiscuous are seen as sluts, whores, or whatever other names there are, but men are seen as legends.

But it it doesn't help talking about it and not doing anything about it. We should be the change we want to see. We should be the difference. We should raise our kids to be blind to race, so racism will be a thing of the past. We should raise them to become anything, because we never laughed at their ideas if they wanted to become something that is not according to their gender. WE should let them wear anything and play with anything they choose. We should let boys cry and girls be able to be strong or any way they choose to be! This is how we will reach gender equality. Women and men can be feminists, if you believe in gender equality. Please watch this video of Emma Watson launching the He For She campaign.

Proud big sister

By Arnia Kiara Oosthuizen
My sister started school yesterday. She is such a clever girl! I am really proud!

I believe she will make a huge success of her first year of school. She is smart. She is active, because she partakes in so many sports and activities. She makes my heart swell with pride!

Yes, I love this girl madly and I hope that when she is bigger, we will be close and do stuff together like girls' nights. She is such a beautiful girl.

I've been to the dentist too many times, so I know the drill...

By Arnia Kiara Oosthuizen

The pun is intended in my title...

Today I used the swear word again. Yes, I went to the dentist again. The most vulgar swear word there is! I was there today and earlier this week, because I had pain in my one tooth.

I cringe every single time, I have to visit the dentist, because since my braces come off when I was 12, I had non-stop problems with my teeth! I am not going to go into details but it was one problem after the other.

This week, I had pain in one of my teeth under my crown. Turns out my bite is way too high and it causes stress on my teeth, so I will be getting a bite retainer. OH, THE JOY! (pffffft!)

I thought some teeth quotes would be nice to cheer everyone up with teeth problems or just to make you thankful that you don't have teeth problems!

Quotes about teeth:

I wish you a toothache-free year and that you will always keep your teeth pearly white! Be true to your teeth and they will never be false to you!

Stop complaining and start changing

By Arnia Kiara Oosthuizen

Millennium Lady is on her soapbox again.

STOP COMPLAINING AND START CHANGING!!!

If you say that your life is chaos or crappy. If you complain of things not going your way. Guess what? It is your fault. Yep, you heard me. IT IS YOUR FAULT! Not mine nor your parents, who abused you or who mistreated you. You decide how you lead your life after the bad times. You decide how your day is gonna be and whether or not your boss is gonna get you down.

Why is Millennium Lady on her soapbox again? Because all around me people are complaining of the crappy relationships they are in or always complaining of their lives being chaos. The same people are complaining of the same circumstances for years. Your friends' and my ears are tired of listening to the record player on repeat. Please choose a new album.

You are the one who can change your circumstances and your outlook on life. And I'm going to throw in my life quote: "Happiness is an inside job" and so is everything else!

Stop complaining and start changing!

Painting for holiday fun

By Arnia Kiara Oosthuizen

What do you do when you get bored? You get creative (sometimes).

This year, I will have my own room at my residence and it will be a lot bigger, so I need to decorate it with more things. But decorations are expensive and not exactly what I want, therefore I decided to buy and paint my own decorations with my favorite color: Blue, especially turquoise.

Adventure: my word for 2015
"The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure."- Christopher McCandless

This is my motto for 2015. I simply want to have fun and adventures. Read about it here.

Happ(y)iness: My word of 2014

My motto and word for 2014 was: Happiness and the motto: Happiness is an inside job. I had an extremely happy year and it was because I chose to be happy. Read about it here.

I am impressed with my attempts at painting! I will take orders (ha-ha).

My bucket list for 2015

By Arnia Kiara Oosthuizen

2015 is going to be my year. It will be the best year I have ever had. How do I know this? Because I am going to make it the best year EVER!

I have compiled my bucket list, late last year, so if it looks familiar: it is! I have completed some of the things on the list already, but most of them will be happening this year.
  • I want to 'Sokkie' in Impala (It is a dance form, which I want to do in Impala [a bar/pub/dance place])
  • I want to attend a class, that I am not registered for.
  • I want to hide in the library so that I can spend the night there with friends and watch movies.
  • I want to pull an all-nighter with my amazing friends or someone special or both.
  • I want to go to the roof garden in F1.
  • I want to go to the 'Purple' garden, which is on one of the roofs on campus. I always see it when we drive over the bridge.
  • I want to go to Potch Liggies, but with someone special or great friends (view where you see the city lights)
  • I want to go on many adventures with my friends.
Went to a theme park with friends, just before exams
  • Dress silly and go and eat in the Draak (Our campus restaurant/bar)
Dressed up like a cow girl and went to the Draak, before our Halloween Party

  • I want to go and eat at all the dining halls.
  • I want to see what is behind the random doors on campus.
  • I want to work harder on my blog and gain more followers. I will also want to find out what my readers are most interested in and will read more.
  • I am going to San Antonio with my parents and sister.
  • I want to go and watch a rugby game with my dad.
  • I want to go to a spa therapy with my mom
  • I want to dress up silly with my baby sister and go out to a mall or something.
This year, I will say 'YES' to adventures and opportunities, because it is my last year of university. My motto will be Carpe Diem. It is going to be a great year. I will post each and every thing, which I have completed on my bucket list of 2015.

My big bucket list of what I want to do and achieve before I die can be seen here. What is your bucket list for 2015?

My word for 2015

By Arnia Kiara Oosthuizen

Words are very powerful things, therefore I like to pick a word each year to live by. I strongly believe that if I make that choice to live by the word then it will happen in that year.

My word for 2014 was Happiness and 2014 was a truly happy year for me. I constantly made the choice to be happy and make the best of everything. My quote for 2014 was "Happiness is an inside job", it will also be my quote for life.

My word for 2015 is ADVENTURE! Yes, I want to have adventures this year. It will be my last year as a student and I want to enjoy every single moment of it.

I will say 'YES' to every opportunity to have an adventure and to just have fun. I will also have to work very hard, but I will aim for adventure every day.

Also, happy New Year to all my faithful blog readers and to the new ones! I hope you all have a year filled with happiness and adventure. So here's to 2015 that is going to be an adventure!

What is your word for 2015?
